SpaceMarts is a project that helps mission planners get all the parts they need to estimate a mission for investors. It’s a tool designed for the spacecraft industry supply chain.
In the complex landscape of the spacecraft industry, organizations—including notable entities like NASA—faced a daunting challenge: navigating outdated, cumbersome platforms to procure vital avionics systems, flight software, and simulation components for space missions. The absence of a modern, intuitive, and centralized solution left a gaping void in a field where precision and reliability are paramount.
Finding the bottlenecks helped reveal key opportunities: Improve the user experience for supply chain processes. Ensure real-time data accuracy as a single reliable source. Speed up transactions to keep up with the fast-paced space industry.
Success would be multifaceted, involving: Reduction in Bounce Rate. User satisfaction score. Unanimous adoption by mission planners at all collaborating organizations.
Success is measured by faster procurement cycles, improved vendor discovery, and increased mission planner adoption across aerospace organizations. The goal is to reduce supply chain friction and establish SpaceMart as the industry standard for space mission logistics.
My exploratory phase involved sketching, wireframing, and conceptualize designs. This creative process was fundamental in ideating a platform that balances simplicity with comprehensive features.
Our design iterations evolved into a sleek, user-centric interface. We prioritized accessibility, incorporating a dashboard that provides at-a-glance insights into logistics and inventory status, with intuitive navigation to deeper functionalities.
I made low quality prototypes in order to show how the user is going to navigate across the product.
New active users able to access to the platform
Users stay more in the website exploring more content.
Design system transition improves the consistency across the products
More new and returning users to the platform and pay for a plan
Cateni stood as a beacon of innovation, transforming procurement into a strategic asset for space missions. Its successful deployment not only underscored the power of human-centered design in the aerospace sector but also demonstrated significant business acumen by elevating operational efficiency and user engagement.
I learn that as designer I need to adapt to the industry that needs to solve problems for specific users.
